The Art Organisation Ltd

(TAO) has been operating for over 7year, and was started in Mach 2001 by Gregory Scott-Gurner & Robert Howie Smith, as an umbrella organisation providing a structure for new artists to pool there resources together and stand, independently out side of the current artistic framework, without being washed away.

TAO has always show concern for the regeneration of disused properties and the introduction of arts to the community. Through our ability and experience in legally acquiring buildings from their owners on a non-financial equation for a temporary basis, has enabled TAO to develop major projects in London, Liverpool, Nottingham and Kent.  

Our aim is to assist in the promotion of artists by providing opportunities to exhibit and show their work. Offering accessibility to affordable studios, workshop and rehearsal space, TAO facilities and equipment, and provide access to a network of artists, musicians, actors and performers nationwide and internationally through our growing member’s portfolio and via our website

The Art Organisation Ltd was registered with non-profit status at
Companies House of England and Wales on 5th March 2001as a
Private Limited Company by Guarantee (company no. 04172873).

Volunteer Co-directors of the company are Robert Howie Smith and
Gregory Scott-Gurner. Paul Flack is company secretary.

CONSTITUTION

TAO objectives show concern for the regeneration of disused property
and the introduction of arts to the community. We aim to assist the promotion of our members by providing the opportunity to exhibit and show, use of workshop and rehearsal space, TAO facilities and equipment, and providing access to a
network of artists, actors and performers through our website www.theartorganisation.co.uk Our ethos supports the concept of community and environmental issues. We contemplate advice and offer support in funding applications and independent projects via the registered status of TAO Ltd,
in line with current practices. We include in the membership fee an invitation to the annual September Meta-Conceptual Gathering, a showcase of raw artist talent, sustained. The positions of Director and Secretary are held voluntarily. Decisions and control of expenditure will be the responsibility of the Directors and reviewed quarterly by a selected committee of three, elected at the annual AGM. Functioning as a non-profit organisation we will annually provide accounts, April to April, to show income and expenditure, accessible by members. Annual membership is available through contact with the Directors via the website or registered office, TAO exhibitions and current projects. Each member will be asked to supply five images (slide or CD) that best represents themselves.

These will form the basis of a members contact list provided to each member and through the web address; to serve as a portfolio of members individual input, skills and qualification, and the medium they work with. Current projects will also be listed to create a history of The Art Organisation, work in progress.
